Homeless Pet Goes from Streets to Satin Sheets, and Injured by a Car, to a Stage Star!

A poor, hungry, homeless Chihuahua/Pomeranian mix dog with a broken leg did not know that his life was about to make a total change and catapult him into stardom.

Wandering the streets in need of surgery, food, and a good home, the undernourished dog was brought to Arlington Animal Services (AAS), where he was fed and provided shelter until rescued by Homeward Bound Animal Rescue.

This is just the beginning of his amazing story.

In the meantime, Kerry Dolan, her husband, and three children discussed, for several months, that they wanted to add a furry friend to their family to make it complete. They had been searching for just the right pet, when Dolan came across Murray online and felt an immediate connection.

The very next day, sweet Murray and the Dolans" wishes came true. Dolan drove to a Southlake PetSmart® pet adoption event to meet Murray, and the rest is history.

Murray is flourishing in his new home, with his loving family. His leg is on the mend as he plays with the Dolans, while frolicking in his new, comfortable digs. Dolan shared that Murray "has three kids who adore him, and my husband and I couldn"t be happier".

The fascinating epilogue to Murray"s adventure with the Dolan"s is that he has been cast in the summer production ofAs You Like It, June 28-30, a play Kerry"s husband Jeff is directing, in the "Much Ado About Shakespeare!" program at Trinity Valley School Black Box at 7:30 p.m. in Fort Worth. Seats are free, but first come, first served!

Success stories such as this one would not be possible without partnerships built and nurtured in the community. Murray"s journey to a new and exciting chapter in his life began when a concerned citizen brought him to AAS and then he was rescued by Homeward Bound Animal Rescue. The cost for the additional medical care was provided for by Homeward Bound Animal Rescue and his broken leg was operated on at Tara Animal Hospital in Colleyville, Texas. Once healed, he was showcased by Homeward Bound Animal Rescue at a PetSmart® event and online, and finally he landed a leading role with the delightful Dolan family.

This is one "happy "tail"" as Dolan put it in her story of Murray.
