Fire Department Encourages Families to Swim Safe this Summer.

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, every year close to 300 children under age 5 drown in residential swimming pools. Nationwide, more than 2,700 children are treated in hospital emergency rooms for swimming pool related injuries.

As Memorial Day nears and the summer approaches, the Arlington Fire Department is offering free pool safety checks.

Paramedics and firefighters at Fire Station No. 7 are available to teach residents about the importance of restricting swimming areas, posting warning signs, establishing fence pool perimeters and learning CPR. The department has also developed a helpful Pool Safety Checklist to all who request a Pool Safety Check.

Call the Arlington Fire Department at 817-459-5500 to schedule a free inspection.
