Arlington Women to Be Honored at Legacy of Women Luncheon

Next week, the Legacy of Women luncheon will recognize area women. Among the honorees will be five women from Arlington, including Patti Diou (the executive director of Friends of the Levitt Pavilion), Grace McDermott (U.S. Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce Southwest), Linda Denson (UT Arlington College of Education), April Harris (executive director of Dental Health Arlington) and Carol Zimmer (community volunteer).

The long-standing event honors women who have distinguished records in business, the arts, health and human services, education and volunteerism. This year, Academy Award-winning actress Marlee Matlin will deliver the keynote address, "Living Generously: Healing the World One Person at a Time."Country singer Laura Dodd will also perform an acoustic set and share her personal story of survival with guests.

The Legacy of Women of luncheon is scheduled for October 11th at the Fort Worth Convention Center. Proceeds benefit the domestic violence programs provided by SafeHaven of Tarrant County.
