Mayor Pro Tempore Kathryn Wilemon delivered meals to nine Arlington residents on Friday as part of the Meals on Wheels' Mayors for Meals event.

Wilemon joined ten other mayors from across Tarrant County as they delivered meals in their community.

"This event allows the mayors to witness first-hand the needs of the homebound senior population of their cities as well as learn about the problems associated with senior hunger and poor nutrition among the elderly," said Carla Jutson, the agency's Executive Director.

Meals on Wheels, Inc. of Tarrant County has been delivering hot, nourishing meals since 1973 to clients who are physically or mentally unable to cook for themselves.

Last fiscal year over 4,200 volunteers delivered 941,587 meals to 4,275 Tarrant County clients.
