The City of Arlington, Keep Arlington Beautiful, Southwest Arlington Geocachers (SWAG), and Republic Services teamed up to help clean up litter on a cold winter day in January.

A team of 110 volunteers descended upon the Great Southwest Industrial Park to remove a large amount of litter that had accumulated over the years along Ave F. This street, located on the southern border of interstate 30, is the unfortunate recipient of trash flying out of vehicles and illegal dumping.

The Arlington Parks and Recreation Department scheduled a Cache In Trash Out (CITO) event to help gather local area geocachers to help with the clean up need.

The volunteers collected 180 bags of trash and 30 tires during the two hour clean up.

The event was so successful that a national podcast, called Podcacher, ran a four minute segment during their on-air show on Jan. 30. Click here to listen.

Future CITO Events

Saturday, Feb. 25 at Fish Creek Linear Park (Sublett & New York) at 9 a.m.

Saturday, March 17 at Don Misenhimer Park at 10 a.m.
