The Ishinomaki Senior Little League baseball team, which nearly disbanded after the 2011 earthquake and tsunami which struck eastern Japan, will be recognized Thursday afternoon at Arlington City Hall with a special proclamation by Mayor Robert Cluck. Members of the team and two coaches are traveling here as part of the 2012 Japan-America Grassroots Summit in North Texas.

"This is just another great opportunity for our city to extend its hospitality to the wonderful people of Japan, "said Mayor Robert Cluck. "It's an extension of our appreciation for everything Yu Darvish has already brought to this community during his first season with the Texas Rangers. He's brought us new tourists and fans, sponsorships and a real spirit of generosity."

Darvish and the Texas Rangers are sponsoring the 14 youth traveling from the earthquake ravaged area and are hosting a series of events for the youth ages 13 through 15, as well.

Following the proclamation, the Ishinomaki Senior Little League will suit up and play a pair of exhibition games at Randol Mill Park in Arlington.
