Capital improvements were the focus of a Town Hall meeting on the proposed FY 2013 budget at City Hall on Tuesday evening. City Manager Trey Yelverton discussed the budget and answered questions during the session which lasted about an hour.

If you want to get an idea what the City of Arlington's proposed budget for FY 2013 is all about, this year you can go beyond the 437 pages of facts, figures and spreadsheets. The City's proposed spending plan is being presented in new ways designed to make the document and the process easier to understand. "It's really about transparency and engaging our residents. There are a lot of factors which go into the preparing a city budget," said City Manager Trey Yelverton. "Council priorities, economic indicators, and business plans; these are all things we wanted to be able to thoroughly show in a simpler and more intuitive manner."

An interactive FY 2013 Proposed Budget presentation is available online, which allows users to explore the budget and its supporting detailed documents. Alternatively, for those interested in a shorter version, the City created an online budget video which provides the key budget highlights in under 10 minutes.

Another opportunity for citizen participation is through a final town hall meeting scheduled as follows:
