Residents of all ages have a unique opportunity to team up with police officers, solve clues and have fun during the Kids, Cops and Citizens Creative Competition on Saturday, March 24.

The event is from 10 a.m. to noon at Anderson Elementary School, 1101 Timberlake Drive. It is sponsored by REACH (Rejuvenating Arlington, Creating Hope) and the East Arlington Police Service Center.

The goal is to promote crime prevention and safety awareness, said REACH Site Director Tawney Harris.

"We have a unique opportunity to build more positive relationships in the community with residents of all ages," Harris said.

During the event, parents can have their kids fingerprinted for a free Child ID kit. The department will also offer free etchings for electronics and bikes, and distribute crime prevention information.

REACH is a collaborative effort of diverse groups representing local government, social service, faith communities and area residents to reduce crime and make Arlington a better community.
