Arlington Swimming Pools Are Ready!

Arlington's two family aquatic centers will re-open at noon Saturday, May 26, just in time for Memorial Day.

The Bad Königshofen Family Aquatics Center has a lot of water features, including an interactive spray pad, a 25-meter four-lane swimming pool, shallow water play pool, lap pool, one-meter diving board and two water slides. It has concessions and amenities that include deck furnishings, storage lockers and restroom/shower facilities.

The Randol Mill Family Aquatic Center located in north Arlington's 149-acre Randol Mill Park at 1924 Randol Mill Road offers interactive water fun, play structures, a vortex pool, waterslides and tot and leisure areas along with concessions, restroom/shower facilities and deck furnishings.

Both aquatic centers have shade pavilions that can be rented for birthday parties and special gatherings.

On Saturday, June 2, the Allen Bolden, Helen Wessler, Howard Moore and Woodland West outdoor swimming pools will re-open.

Behind the scenes, nearly 120 seasonal employees have completed lifeguard training and classes in CPR and first aid. Staff has been taught cash handling, general maintenance, how to operate automated external defibrillators and how to protect themselves from the harmful rays of the sun.

With a focus on service, everyone has completed customer service training to better serve the estimated 120,000 visitors expected to arrive through the gates for water park fun in Arlington's family aquatic centers and outdoor swimming pools.

Maria Campbell, APRD Aquatics Manager, expects capacity crowds this summer. She said the staff has been "working hard to prepare"and that they are "ready and excited to kick the summer off!"She encourages people to check out their new Facebook page, facebook.com/ArlingtonAquatics, to stay up-to-date on pool events, view photos, and connect with staff.

The Arlington Parks and Recreation Department will be celebrating two special anniversaries this summer. June 16th is the celebration of Allen Bolden Pool's 25th Anniversary. Patrons will enjoy 1987 pricing ($1.50 per person) as well as complimentary cake, popsicles, drinks, and a number of games and contests from noon-2pm. The Randol Mill Family Aquatic Center will celebrate its 10-year anniversary on June 24th from 1-3pm.
