Here are a few ways you can enjoy your weekend in The American Dream City. 

Taylor Swift The Eras Collection and more at Arlington Museum of Art

Curated by the Arlington Museum of Art from Swift’s own private collection, Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour Collection is an exploration of Swift as an evolving, boundary-pushing artist. The exhibition will feature original costumes, photographs, videos, and more representing several of her creative periods, or “eras.” Highlights of the exhibition are eight costumes worn by Swift from her record-breaking albums Midnights, folklore, Red (Taylor’s Version) and Fearless (Taylor’s Version). Admission into Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour Collection will grant admission to the Girl in a Country Song, Hometown Harmonies, Toni Martin: Butterfly Kisses exhibitions. All exhibition runs through Sunday, September 24, 2023.

Water Play at the East Library and Recreation Center 

Beat the heat and join the Arlington Public Library 9:30 a.m. Friday, June 9, 2023, at the East Library and Recreation Zone for some fun outdoor water play for toddlers. This event is for toddlers up to age four. 

Little Explores – Downtown Library 

Stop by The Play Room at the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library on 10 a.m. Fridays for a morning of play-based learning.  This come-and-go program will vary week-to-week as librarians explore art, math, science, engineering, and fine motor skills.  Join the Arlington Public Library as we playfully discover the world around us!  Designed for ages 1-4. Family Storytime 

Join the Arlington Public Library’s fabulous staff to sing, read and wiggle during storytime at the Southeast Branch Library 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 9, 2023. This storytime is geared for ages 2-5. They will read books, sing songs, and have some time to play after the program each week. Clay Art: Landon Palmer 

Join the Arlington Public Library in this fun hands-on art class taught by talented Clay Artist, Landon Palmer 12 p.m. Friday, June 9, 2023, at the Southwest Branch Library. This class is first come first served.

Hour of Code for Teens

Join the Arlington Public Library 1 p.m. Friday, June 9, 2023, at the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library for an Hour of Code just for teens. Spend an afternoon learning the basics of computer science and coding. You will meet in the Explore classroom on the 2nd floor of the library. No previous coding experience necessary. This program is intended for incoming 7th graders through graduating seniors. Registration is required. Click here for registration.

Game Day 

Come for the afternoon to play a variety of table-top games 2-4 p.m. Friday, June 9, 2023, at the Ron Wright Lake Arlington Branch Library’s Community Room. Registration is not required, but space is limited. First-come, first-served. For kids in grades 2-6. 3D Printing for Families

Learn about 3D printing and take home a gift for the fathers in your life 3 p.m. Friday, June 9, 2023, George W. Hawkes Downtown Library’s Tinker Room. Learn how to prepare and print using TinkerCAD and then watch your design take shape before your eyes in the 3D printer! Materials will be provided. This class is limited to the first 12 in attendance and is appropriate for ages 9+.

Short Story Intensive 

Come to the Southeast Library every Friday in June to learn about different elements of storytelling. This week’s event takes place 3 p.m. Friday, June 9, 2023. The Arlington Public Library will focus on Short Story Writing to help young writers build brainstorming, drafting, and editing skills. Writers can choose to participate in the One Page Dungeons and Dragons Campaign where they will have the opportunity to “publish” their work and run their own campaign. This program is designed for ages 9-17.  

Levitt Pavilion Summer Concert Series 

Levitt Pavilion Arlington’s Summer Concert Series continues 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 9, 2023, with Dusty Moats opening for Dale Watson. These concerts are free. Open seating is available on the lawn. Please bring blankets and lawn chairs. You also can bring your own food and coolers with beverages, including alcohol, but no glass containers, please. Parking is free. The Arlington Music Hall has two shows you can be part of this weekend. You can see Cody Smith (Comedic Cody) 8:00 p.m. Friday, June 9, 2023. Then enjoy the Buck Wild Comedy Tour kicks off 7 p.m. Saturday, June 10, 2023. Click on each event for ticket information. 

Wings host Phoenix Mercury

Rotary Club of Arlington New Public Art in Downtown

The Rotary Club of Arlington is commemorating its centennial by donating “Boundless,” a new interactive public art piece in Downtown Arlington for residents and visitors alike to enjoy. The community is invited to a dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony for the sculpture, set for 8:30 a.m. Saturday, June 10, 2023, at the future site of Rotary Dream Park. The sculpture celebrates the Rotary Club of Arlington’s 100 years of dedication, vision, and involvement with the community, including its pivotal role in the creation and evolution of the parks system in Arlington. The ceremony will include remarks from City leadership, Rotary Club of Arlington President Dr. Victoria Farrar-Myers and sculpture artist Jen Lewin. Click here to learn more. 

Happy Little Accidents: A Teen Painting Club

Join the Arlington Public Library in the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library's Makerspace for Happy Little Accidents 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 10, 2023. It is an acrylic painting program for teens inspired by the beloved Bob Ross. Beginner or advanced, all are welcome. Paint together, embrace your happy little accidents, and meet some new friends. All materials will be provided. This program is intended for ages 13 - 17 only. No registration required. Limited to the first 10 participants.

Downtown Arlington Classic Car Show

Experience cars, food, music, and more at the Downtown Arlington Classic Car Show, presented by Chevrolet 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 10, 2023, in the Vandergriff Town Center Plaza, located at 200 N. Mesquite St. Bring your family and friends out as Downtown Arlington Management Corporation honors Downtown’s rich history with General Motors and Chevrolet and celebrate 70 years with the Corvette. Landscape Design Basics 

The Landscape Design Basics event takes place Saturday, June 10, 2023, at the Northeast Branch Library’s Community Room.  The climate in North Texas can be harsh, but lush home landscapes can be created using the right plants and design principles. Whether you want a traditional suburban yard or an extravagant butterfly garden, using native Texas plants and resource conscious design principles can help you get the best yard on the block without too much effort. At the event, you will learn the basic principles of landscape design, how to take into account the needs and characteristics of your landscape, the best types of plants for different situations, how to maintain your landscape and prune plants and plants that need less water and maintenance. The class will be 45 minutes long and taught by a Tarrant County Master Gardener. It is free to attend. Register by clicking here

Esports Stadium Arlington - Education Day

Esports Stadium Arlington hosts an education day for students 1 p.m. Saturday, June 10, 2023. They encourage students and accompanying adult chaperones to join for an exclusive opportunity to tour our turnkey 100,000 square foot. venue. Esports Stadium Arlington has hosted a breadth of events such as major esports tournaments, awards shows, anime movie premiers, conventions, and more. Attendees will be able to tour the venue and learn about all the different roles that support an event from our knowledgeable staff. During the tour, there will be multiple career paths to explore, each unique and necessary in its own way to keep our venue running. Admission to this event is only reserved for students and accompanying adult chaperones, limited to only one adult chaperone per student. They will allow multiple students chaperoned by one adult. Tickets will be limited.  Any students under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a chaperone.  All students must present their school ID during check-in.  It is $10 / person for students & adult chaperones. Book Tasting: Regency Era

Expand your reading palette by sampling a literary buffet of books at this event 2-4 p.m. Saturday, June 10, 2023, at the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library’s [re]Brary Room A. You will sample a variety of books from Jane Austen to Bridgerton. Bring your own teacup to taste the experience. Space is limited make sure to arrive on time.

Jackals vs. NOLA Gold

Frank Kent Cadillac Arlington Pride Celebration presented by the HELP Center for LGBT Health & Wellness

The 2023 Frank Kent Cadillac Arlington Pride Celebration presented by the HELP Center for LGBT Health & Wellness will take place 6-11 p.m. Saturday, June 10, 2023, at Levitt Pavilion Arlington. Arlington Pride 2023 features performances from RuPaul's Drag Race Queens Angeria Paris VanMichaels, Symone, and Kennedy Davenport, DJ Al Farb and a host of other entertainment on stage along with a street fair full of vendors. Summer Seltzer Splash Event 

Head over to Texas Live! in Revolver Brewhouse 1-6 p.m. Sunday, June 11, 2023, for Summer Seltzer Splash Event. Revolver Ranch Waters and Cactus Waters will be keeping you cool throughout the event. You can expect live music featuring Dalton Torres and Larissa Boyd, small bites by Lockhart Smokehouse, Weld and Wool with permeant Jewelry and custom hat making and the event is Dog Friendly. Theatre Arlington’s Club Comedy 

Head over to Club Comedy sponsored by Pinnacle Bank 7:30 p.m. Sunday, June 11, 2023, at Theatre Arlington. The Comedy Club will offer a fun-filled evening of improv, sketch comedy with a few musical numbers and occasional stand-up – all led by Ben Fort. It is $15.00 at the door / $17.00 online (includes $2.00 online ticket processing fee). Reservations are strongly suggested. Appropriate for audiences aged 16 and older. “Theatre BARlington” will be open.
