Youth ages 10-17 may volunteer when accompanied by a parent or guardian. We would love to have you as part of our team as we work hard to save lives.

In-House Volunteer Opportunities
Team Cats
- Assist shelter staff with cleaning cattery in the morning
- Socialize our adoptable cats
- Take pictures of our adoptable cats outside of their kennels to post on social media and adoption profiles
Teams Dogs
- Help with cleaning and sanitizing dogs kennels in the morning
- Help ensure kennels are maintained throughout the day (poop pick up, refill water, afternoon feedings, and dishes)
- Socialize with our adoptable dogs outside in our play-yards (weather permitting)
- Take pictures of our adoptable dogs while outside playing for social media and adoption profiles
Vet Clinic Volunteers
Assist our veterinary technicians in caring for the animals in the Moritz Clinic.
Experience working with a veterinary clinic is preferred but not required. An interview with a shelter technician and/or shelter veterinarian is also required. Please contact the volunteer administrator for more information.
The Dream Clean Team
We kindly ask all of our volunteers to participate in our Clean Dream Team activities including:
- Laundry
- Dishes
- Newspapers
- Cleaning windows
- Restocking
- General housekeeping tasks
While these activities are not hands-on with the animals, by working together to ensure they are done daily, you are directly making a difference in their lives!
Off-Site Volunteer Opportunities
PetSmart Volunteers
Arlington Animal Services has 5 cat kennels inside the PetSmart in The Highlands location which houses adoptable cats from the shelter. Volunteers are needed for overall cleaning, socialization, and care of these adoptable cats while they wait for their forever home.
Mobile Adoption Unit
Our mobile adoption unit takes adoptable dogs to the PetSmart in The Highlands location for off-site adoption events. Volunteers are needed to assist with getting the dogs ready to go and helping with meet and greets with potential adopters at the event.
