Each year, the City of Arlington anticipates receipt of funding from the U.S Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) after the fiscal year annual budget is approved through Congress. The Grants Management Department will release a Notice of Funding Availability with an official publication and a Request for Proposal to applicants who may be eligible for CDBG, ESG and HOME grants.
How to Apply?

- Register for a new account.
- Select a program to apply for, then click the Apply button to get started.
- Make sure your account information is complete and accurate.
- Complete your application and click Submit.
Tips
- Answers are saved automatically when you leave each field.
- Turn spell-checking on. Your browser probably has it, so you might as well use it.
- Copying/pasting data works best when you are pasting unformatted text. (Bullets and other special characters do not transfer and are usually replaced with question marks.)
- When you paste data into a field, the character count will be inaccurate until you add or delete at least one character.
- Log out and come back at any time to continue your work but be sure to finish and submit before the deadline.
- Submit early, if you can!
When can we apply?
The annual Action Plan cycle for the next program year starts with announcing the Request for Proposal Workshop Training that provides details on applying for grants. A general timeline is provided below for key dates in the Action Plan cycle:

- Pre-Release of Program Year funding availability and Request for Proposals Training Workshop - end of October
- Deadline for submission of applications for CDBG, ESG, and HOME grants - early December
- Review of proposals by City staff and United Way Grants Committee- January
- City Council Community and Development Committee Review - February - March
- Preliminary award notices to applicants - March - April
Submission of the Annual Action Plan & Grant Awards Timeline
- Publication of 30-day public comment period and public hearings - March - April
- City Council Review of the Action Plan - April - May
- Applicants notified of grant awards - May
- HUD review and approval of Action Plan - June
- Subrecipient Workshop Training - before July
- Contract Year begins - July 1st.
Are there any other requirements to apply for HUD grant funding?
Registration of your organization through sam.gov is required to get obtain a Unique Identifier ID (UID) and must be active before the contract is finalized. This is a requirement to submit applications and contracts if awarded funding.
