There are plenty of fun events for you and your family right here in Arlington! Here are a few ways you can enjoy your weekend in The American Dream City. 

Rangers battle Mariners

Your hometown Rangers look to defend homefield against the Seattle Mariners. The three-game set at Globe Life Field is slated to have first pitch at 7:05 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12, 2022, 6:15 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, 2022 and 1:35 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 14, 2022. You can purchase get tickets on the Rangers’ website.

North Texas Soccer Club returns to Choctaw Stadium

The North Texas Soccer Club hosts Real Monarchs 7:00 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12, 2022 at Choctaw Stadium. Established in June 2021 by Major League Soccer, the new professional league will complete an integrated player pathway from MLS NEXT through to MLS first teams. The new league will offer young players and experienced professionals the opportunity to develop and showcase their talents while competing for an MLS NEXT Pro championship. Tickets can be purchased on the North Texas Soccer Club’s website.

Six Flags Over Texas School Supply Drive

Six Flags Over Texas and Mission Arlington are teaming up to host a School Supply Drive to help the surrounding community. Guests are encouraged to donate at least six items at the front gate during the School Supply Drive. Each person that donates at least six school supplies Saturday, Aug. 13, 2022 or Sunday, Aug. 14, 2022 at Six Flags Over Texas will receive a $10 in Six Flags Fun Money voucher* to be used in-park at select food and retail locations. 

*One voucher per guest. Voucher only valid during regular operating days during the 2022 season. Vouchers are first-come, first-served and are not guaranteed.

Arlington PGL Dota 2 Major at Esports Stadium Arlington

Free Backyard Composting Classes

Every second Saturday, City of Arlington provides hands-on information about how to compost at home.  This informal class is free and requires no registration.  It meets at the compost area in the southeast corner of the River Legacy Science Center parking area. This month’s event takes place 9:00 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, 2022.  

Rescue Readers with Arlington Animal Services

Arlington Animal Services is excited to announce Rescue Readers this summer! They have two groups set up for 10:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, 2022. This special event for kids ages 8-14 years, is setup with a goal to help young readers feel more comfortable reading out loud, while allowing shelter pets some soothing company from human friends! Kids are encouraged to bring their favorite books to read to their shelter pets, or we will have a variety to choose from at the shelter. Each child will read to their designated shelter pets for 20 minutes and parents or legal guardians are required to stay at the shelter during their child's reading time. Sign up is required. Arlington Police Department’s Back to School Giveaway Event

The Arlington Police Department hosts a Back-to-School Giveaway Event 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, 2022 at Clarence Thompson Park, located at 1600 Brown Blvd.  The event is free to the public. No registration is required. All you have to do is show up. Officers will giveaway backpacks and school supplies. There will be bounce houses, food and much more.

Viva Tejas at Texas Live!

Come out to Texas Live! Saturday, Aug. 13, 2022, as the Texas Rangers to celebrate Hispanic culture together throughout the season. The party starts at 12:30PM until first pitch. As a way to recognize and empower the Hispanic community, Viva Tejas welcomes you to Arlington Backyard and the Texas Rangers Plaza one Home Saturday Game every month, highlighting Hispanic traditions through food, live music, activation vendors with games and more!

The Weeknd: After Hours Til Dawn Tour at AT&T Stadium 

The Weeknd comes to AT&T Stadium 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 14, 2022 as part of the 2022 After Hours Til Dawn Tour. This 2022 tour marks the first time The Weeknd will be touring his mammoth album After Hours (it’s hit single “Blinding Lights” was named the new No. 1 Billboard Hot 100 song of all time, surpassing Chubby Checker’s 1960 hit “The Twist”) as well as the recently released and highly critically acclaimed album DAWN FM. The tour will see his most ambitious production to date reflecting the creative journey that continues to unfold for both these albums, creating worlds within worlds as we have all been watching unfold in various television performances, music videos and short films bringing these first two pieces of his trilogy to life.
