Applications are now open for the Fall 2025 session of Arlington Water Utilities University, hosted by the City of Arlington’s award-winning water department, Arlington Water Utilities. Arlington residents can apply online through Friday, Aug. 8, 2025. Selected participants will be contacted by Friday, Aug. 15.
Classes will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on alternating Wednesdays at various locations in Arlington. Class dates are tentatively set for Sept. 10, Sept. 24, Oct. 8, Oct. 22 and Nov. 5, 2025. Participants will also be recognized with a graduation certificate and reception on Nov. 19.
Some of the activities planned include:
- Guided tours of Arlington Water Utilities facilities like the Pierce Burch Water Treatment Plant and John F. Kubala Water Treatment Plant.
- Opportunities to get to know water department leadership and frontline staff members.
- Interactive activities to learn more about the challenges and rewards of working in the water/wastewater industry.
Feedback from the inaugural Arlington Water Utilities class in Spring 2025 was overwhelmingly positive. When asked to evaluate the session content and suggest improvements, all respondents rated the program as excellent.
“This far exceeded any expectations I had, stated one participated. "I will be sharing the information with my neighbors and friends and encouraging others to sign up for future classes."
“I came away from the course not only better informed," noted another participant, "but also empowered to advocate for water conservation and to support local agencies and initiatives aimed at preserving and enhancing water quantity and quality.”
