Summer is quickly coming to a close and with the new colors and smells of fall taking over, plans of outdoor activities like s"mores, campfires, story-telling and other camping fun are finding their appeal once again!

Arlington"s annual Family Fun Campout offers outdoor fun right in your own backyard. This year"s event starts at 4pm Friday night, October 12, in Veterans Park. The Family Fun Campout includes all of this camping fun and more, such as pumpkin decorating, tent decorating, trick-or-treating, dinner and live entertainment!

One of the main attractions of this event is the convenience of being close to home while still getting the full campout experience, according to Whitney Chandler, Facility Manager for Dottie Lynn Recreation Center. Coupled with all of the entertainment provided, this event finds itself full of familiar faces each year.

"I love the sense of community at this event," said Chandler. "Families return year after year because they love the experience of camping in one of their local parks."

Start a new tradition of quality time with your family enjoying a night of camping out in the park. This is a great way to celebrate the fall with memories that last a life time. Cost for the event is $10 per person and children ages 2 and under are free. So pack your tents and light your lanterns -don"t miss this year"s Family Fun Campout.
