Remember the 4 Ds during National Night Out!

Neighborhoods across our city are getting ready for National Night Out!

On Tuesday, October 2, residents will host neighborhood block parties and fun outdoor activities designed to bring neighbors together to talk about crime prevention and safety.

When the porch lights come on, Arlington will unite to send a strong message to criminals that crime is not welcome in our neighborhoods!

That's the key message from neighbors in the Overland Stage Estates and in other Arlington neighborhoods who are getting ready for the night out against crime.

With hot dogs and burgers on grills, you can get updates from Community Watch Coordinators. You can meet your neighbors who are Citizens on Patrol and members of the Citizens Police Academy. You can find out how neighborhoods across the city are staying connected with the Arlington Police Department through social media. If you are not connected, here is a great time to learn how.

It's going to be a big night for neighborhoods across the city, including apartment home communities. By participating in National Night Out, we celebrate neighborhood pride and strong police community partnerships. It will be a party with a purpose!

It's not too late to organize an event. Register your party today at www.ArlingtonPD.org and click on the NNO logo to get started. When you register, you'll receive important planning information, and a public safety official from the Arlington Police Department and/or Arlington Fire Department could visit your event.

Working together, we can continue to make Arlington neighborhoods stronger and safer! Join us October 2, 2012.
