Arlington’s Levitt Pavilion will still host free concerts to feed residents’ spirits over the next few weeks, even if gathering together downtown under the stars isn’t an option.

Next week, the Levitt will kick off its new Levitt Living Room Series of live-streaming concerts on Facebook Live. The series kicks off at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, with Brad Thompson. Live-streaming concerts will be every Tuesday at 7 p.m. at facebook.com/levittpavilionarlington.

“We had made the decision to postpone our summer concert series start until June. 19. When we did that, we said, ‘We still need to be bringing music to people now.’ So, we decided to do the living room series,” said Cathy O’Neal, communications director for Levitt Pavilion Arlington. Thompson, who has performed at the Levitt numerous times, was a great choice to start with, O’Neal said.

“Brad is a really good friend of the Levitt. He loves what we do, the whole concept of free music and community, and everyone loves him.”

Since the nonprofit won’t be able to pass its signature buckets for donations at the online concerts, organizers hope that those enjoying the music will make donations online.

Artists for the new virtual series will be announced as they are confirmed on the Levitt's website, mobile app, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Taylor Young is already set for Tuesday, April 28. Young, formerly of The O’s, is the front man for The Taylor Young Band, which will be the opening act for the Levitt’s annual benefit concert featuring Styx on Oct. 10.

Sara Hickman is scheduled for Tuesday, May 5. Hickman is a longtime fan favorite and her performance will coincide with North Texas Giving Tuesday Now, a regional event to help nonprofit organizations impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. O’Neal said she’s hopeful that Arlington residents will join in on the online giving event and support the Levitt.

“We need it more than ever – both the free music and the financial support,” she said.

The Levitt Pavilion Arlington’s current plan is for its summer concert season to open on June 19 with the bluesy music of Michael Lee, a Fort Worth artist who competed on The Voice. Summer concerts will continue through July 19. For more information, please visit the Levitt website at levittpavilionarlington.org.
