Some of Arlington's youngest residents started their week with a good book and a new friend.

Arlington Animal Services hosted "Kiddies Paws to Read" Monday morning. The program invites children to read to adoptable dogs.

The exercise allows children to strengthen their reading skills while also learning how to properly interact with animals. The dogs benefit from increased socialization.

Participants also received a lesson in how to properly approach a dog and its owner.

All of the dogs chosen for "Kiddies Paws to Read" are available for adoption at Arlington Animal Services.
