Arlington Issues Permits for More Than $284 Million in Projects in First Quarter of 2019

Quarterly Growth ProfileThe City of Arlington issued permits for more than $57 million in new residential housing construction and permits for more than $148.6 million in non-residential new construction during the first three months of 2019, according to the latest Quarterly Growth Profile.

The Quarterly Growth Profile provides basic growth statistics and is produced by the City of Arlington’s Office of Strategic Initiatives. The publication includes population growth, new construction and housing changes within The American Dream City.

In all, 1,890 permits for projects totaling $284,021,992 were issued by the City between Jan. 1, 2019, and March 31, 2019. These permits ranged from a new 7-Eleven convenience store at Texas Live! to two-story brick homes on Ballweg Drive in south Arlington, as well as new multifamily housing units, commercial and residential remodeling projects, swimming pools, fences, signs and accessory buildings across the city. 

Arlington saw the completion of 176 new single-family homes, a 15 percent increase from the previous quarter. North Arlington saw the largest growth, with 78 new homes, followed by Southeast with 69 houses, Southwest with 22 houses, West with 6 houses and East with one new home. Citywide, Arlington now has 102,894 single-family homes.

The total volume of issued permits rose by 0.27 percent from the previous quarter, though the overall value of the permits decreased by about 5 percent when compared to the same time period.
