Here are a few ways you can enjoy your weekend in The American Dream City. 

Forever Forest Visiting Exhibit 

Forever Forest by Omaha Children’s Museum, is an immersive exhibit that teaches families how their everyday lives are connected to forests through the ways they live, work, and play. Families will enjoy hands-on activities focused on forest life and sustainable harvesting. Visit the River Legacy Nature Center to explore the forest like never before. Climb, crawl and slide on treetops, become a conductor for a day and work a kid-sized replica of a Union Pacific engine, or work together to build a house as you learn about the many things wood is used for! The exhibit runs through Saturday, Feb. 10, 2024.

Little Explorers – Downtown Library 

Stop by The Play Room at the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library on 10 a.m. Fridays for a morning of play-based learning.  This come-and-go program will vary week-to-week as librarians explore art, math, science, engineering, and fine motor skills.  Join the Arlington Public Library as we playfully discover the world around us!  Designed for ages 1-4. Family Storytime – Southeast Branch Library

Join the Arlington Public Library’s fabulous library staff to sing, read and wiggle during storytime at the Southeast Branch Library 10:30 a.m. Fridays. This storytime is geared for ages 2-5. They will read books, sing songs, and have an activity after the program each week. Sewing for Beginners 

Learn sewing machine basics with a fun project 3-5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26, 2024, at the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library’s Tinker Room. Materials will be provided. This class is limited to the first 7 in attendance and is appropriate for ages 13+.

Tween and Teen Hour of Code

Tweens and teens ages 10-17 are invited to spend an hour learning the basics of computer science and coding. This program is ideal for those with very little to no coding experience. We'll be meeting in the Explore computer lab on the 2nd floor of the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library. The January session takes place 4:30-5:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26, 2024. While no previous coding experience is necessary, basic computer and typing skills are recommended. Registration is required. Click here to register.

Miller Lite Hot Country Nights: Jon Wolfe

Texas Live! hosts Miller Lite Hot Country Nights powered by TXU Energy. Jon Wolfe takes the stage at the Shift4 Arena with doors opening 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26, 2024. The Show is free to attend but you can upgrade your concert experience. Learn more by clicking here

Shows at Arlington Music Hall

The Arlington Music Hall has shows you can enjoy this weekend. You can experience Collin Raye 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26, 2024, Air Supply 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, 2024 and then The Magic of Jen Kramer 6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28, 2024. Click on the event for ticket information.   

Day Trip – Winstar Casino 

Come and try your luck at the tables or your favorite machines as Elzie Odom Athletic Center hosts an adult day trip to Winstar Casino 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, 2024. Click here to register. 

Texas Rangers Fan Fest

 On Saturday, Jan. 27, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., join for a very special Championship Edition of Fan Fest at Globe Life Field – the home of the World Champion Texas Rangers! You’ll have a chance to celebrate the team and title all day long. Take pictures with the Commissioner’s Trophy, get autographs from Rangers players and alumni, enjoy Q&A sessions with players and legends, run the bases, go deep in the Wiffle ball home run derby, and much more. The Grand Slam Team Store will also be fully stocked with World Champs merchandise! Concessions will be open during Fan Fest. And parking is FREE! Tickets are just $10 for kids 13 years and younger and $20 for adults. Click here to register. 

Pet Adoptions Event

 Join Arlington Animal Services mobile adoption truck will be at PetSmart Highlands with furry friends to meet 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, 2024. Stop by to visit with an adoptable pet to get some pet therapy and possibly a forever friend. Cannot make it to the event? Family Tree Hike

 Take a closer look at trees as you walk through the beautiful riparian forest right here in Arlington 10-11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 27, 2024. You’ll discuss parts of a tree, decomposition, usage, identification and more. Wear weather-appropriate clothing and comfortable shoes. All participants over 5 years of age must register. Each child/family must have at least one adult attending and registered for the program. Children must be supervised by the adult they came with. Click here to register.

Silent Book Club

 The book club with no assigned reading and no pressure! Meet once a month at local spots around Arlington and Grand Prairie to read, drink, and be in community with other bookworms. Bring any book you choose, enjoy some refreshments, and stay for optional socializing just before and after our reading time. At this event, meet at Nehemiah Coffee 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, 2024.

Paint Your Pet

 Capture your pet's image in this fun and creative class where we will paint a portrait of our beloved companions 12-1:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, 2024, at the East Library and Recreation Center. Participants will need to pre-register and submit a photo of their pet beforehand, so canvases can be prepped for the final masterpiece. This program is designed for ages 10 and up and is suitable for all skill levels. Click here to join the waitlist!

Laser Cutter for Beginners

 Learn about the many things you do with the Glowforge Laser Cutter in this introductory class 3-5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, 2024, at the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library’s Tinker Room. The laser cutter cuts, engraves, and scores a variety of materials including wood, acrylic, and leather to create a myriad of projects. Materials will be provided. This class is limited to the first 8 in attendance and is appropriate for ages 13 to adult.

The Drop: Georgia Sinclair 

 The Drop presented by CBD Kratom in Shift4 Arena featuring your favorite local and national EDM artists. Head over to Texas Live! 11 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, 2024, for Georgia Sinclair. For The Drop, there is free farking and free Admission with the event for those 18 years of age and older. Click here to learn more.
