Dog of the Week – Meet Lucy

This two-year old female Pit Bull Terrier mix is black and white in color and weighs 68 pounds. Lucy is a happy dog and loves to greet volunteers and staff with full body wags. She has a hard time controlling her excitement when she is the center of attention. While being spayed recently, Lucy also underwent eye surgery for "cherry eye". This is a common eye issue among certain breeds of dogs. We are thankful that our shelter veterinarian was able to correct the issue so Lucy can be "eyeing" potential adopters as they visit the shelter. At a recent offsite adoption event, she had so much fun but missed out on meeting her new "furever" family. Due to her length of time in the shelter, Lucy has been designated a VIP pet. Second Dog of the Week – Meet Sweet Potatoes

This four-year old female Retriever mix is black and white in color and weighs 54 pounds. Having spent her Thanksgiving with us at the shelter, this "side dish" is eagerly looking for a new "furever" home to call her own for Christmas. She does well around other dogs, so if you have a furry friend currently in your home, you can bring them to do a meet and greet with Sweet Potatoes. Sweet Potatoes is a well mannered dog who LOVES belly rubs and playing with toys. She does not have a long Christmas list—all she wants is a tennis ball and a friend to play catch with her. She did great at the recent offsite event where she enjoyed all the attention she got from friends that she met there. Unfortunately, she just didn't meet her new "furever" family at that event so she is patiently waiting for them at the shelter.
