ORIGINAL RELEASE

On Thursday, January 25, 2024, at approximately 8:33 p.m., the Arlington Police Department responded to an apartment complex in the 3500 block of Chatham Green Lane to investigate a reported shooting.

A witness called 911 to report that he heard a loud noise, then saw someone lying unresponsive near the doorway of a second-floor apartment. He also reported the door to the apartment appeared to be kicked in.

When officers arrived on scene, they learned the victim, a 29-year-old male, had been shot. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Due to the nature of the call, officers did an emergency sweep of the apartment and found a 29-year-old female and 31-year-old male inside who also had gunshot wounds. The female was pronounced deceased at the scene. The 31-year-old male was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased from his injuries.

Two young children were inside the apartment as well. They were unharmed and were released to family members.

Through the course of their investigation, detectives learned the man and woman found inside the apartment were in a dating relationship and lived at the apartment with the woman’s children. The man found near the doorway appears to be an acquaintance who was visiting the apartment.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the deceased once next of kin have been notified.

Witnesses told officers they saw a man running from the scene shortly after they heard gunshots. No arrests have been made.

After speaking to witnesses and reviewing evidence, investigators believe high-risk activity may be involved in this incident. The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call Detective VanTreeck at (817) 459-5691. Tipsters can remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers of Tarrant County at (817) 469-8477.
