Wallbox, a global leader in electric vehicle (EV) charging and energy management solutions, and COIL, a leading EV charging installation service and Wallbox subsidiary has secured proposed awards of $25.6 million from the Washington Department of Commerce’s Electric Charging Program with partners from Clean and Prosperous Institute and Adopt A Charger. The funds will be used to deploy Wallbox’s latest charger across 148 multifamily housing properties throughout the state of Washington.

“One of the most commonly cited concerns for prospective EV drivers is access to EV charging, especially for those who do not live in detached houses. Wallbox and the State of Washington have a shared commitment of ensuring that chargers are deployed across all use cases, including multifamily housing, to ensure that benefits of going electric are accessible to all,” said Erik Fogelberg, General Manager of Wallbox North America.

Wallbox’s first North American factory is located in Arlington, Texas, and is designed to produce over one million units by 2030. The factory, which opened in October 2022, manufactures all of the company’s chargers in the U.S. that serve multiple segments of EV charging, including residential, bidirectional and hyperfast highway corridor charging.  The new factory was constructed through a cradle-to-cradle methodology whereby unnecessary waste is eliminated through design and eco-efficient materials.  The company is committed to achieve Net Zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across its global footprint by 2030.
