The City of Arlington has launched a regular Street Tracker segment on MyArlingtonTV to provide transparency and up-to-date information on both current and proposed street maintenance and construction projects.

This month's episode highlights the $4.5 million construction project designed to ease congestion and improve infrastructure in southeast Arlington. In May, the Public Works and Transportation Department began transforming South Collins Street between Mayfield Road and Interstate 20.

This project consists of widening Collins Street by constructing two additional lanes and adding southbound right turn lanes at both Arbrook Boulevard and IH-20. Additional improvements include replacing existing concrete panels as needed; adjusting water and sanitary sewer facilities; replacing traffic signals, street lights, pavement markings, street signs, sidewalks, fiber conduit, and median landscaping and irrigation improvements. Construction is anticipated to be completed in early 2020.

Funding for the Collins Street Widening Project was approved by Arlington voters as part of the $160 million street improvements package in the 2014 bond election and aligns with the City Council’s priorities to Enhance Regional Mobility and Champion Great Neighborhoods.

The site features an interactive map, project list, videos, a news feed featuring the latest information on street construction and contact information for residents to report street problems, such as potholes, that they find in Arlington.

The City's Office of Communication develops programming for MyArlingtonTV. Viewers can find MyArlingtonTV programs on the following cable systems: SpectrumChannel 16 and AT&T U-Verse channel 99, and streaming capabilities at www.arlingtontx.gov/broadcast.
