2020 schedule courtesy Texas RangersThe Texas Rangers will host the Los Angeles Angels in the first regular season game ever at the new Globe Life Field on Tuesday, March 31 in the team’s 2020 home opener. The complete 2020 schedule was announced Monday by Major League Baseball.

The Rangers will open the 2020 season with a four-game series in Seattle beginning on Thursday, March 26, the earliest date on which the club will ever begin the regular season. Texas hosted the Chicago Cubs on March 28, 2019 in the previous earliest opener. It will be the 21st time in 49 seasons that the Rangers have opened on the road, the first since 2015 at Oakland.

Following the trip to Seattle, the Rangers will open Globe Life Field with a six-game homestand from March 31-April 5 that features three contests each with the Angels and Tampa Bay Rays. This will be the eighth time the Angels have been the opponent in the Rangers’ home opener, including the team’s first game at Arlington Stadium on April 21, 1972.

The Rangers will play at Globe Life Field 18 times in a span of 26 total games from March 31-April 29 with the New York Yankees and A.L. West Division foes Houston, Oakland, and Seattle making appearances following that first homestand.

With 15 teams in each league, interleague play will take place throughout the entire regular season for the eighth straight year. Clubs will again play 19 games against division opponents (76 total games) and either six or seven contests vs. non-divisional league opponents in home and home series (66 total games). Each club will also play 20 interleague games (10 home/10 road), with the Rangers facing the five N.L. East clubs and the Colorado Rockies in 2020.

Texas will play 19 times each versus A.L. West Division foes Houston, Los Angeles, Oakland, and Seattle. In interleague play, the Rangers will host Atlanta Braves and Washington Nationals for three games each and have two-game home and home series with both Colorado and the Philadelphia Phillies. This will be just the second time the Expos/Nationals franchise has visited Arlington, the other June 17-19, 2005. Texas rounds out its interleague schedule with three-game road series again the Miami Marlins and New York Mets.

Texas will be home on Independence Day, Saturday, July 4 against the Chicago White Sox and closes the 2020 regular season with a six-game homestand with the A’s and Mariners, September 22-27.

Prior to the start of the regular season, the Rangers will play a pair of spring training games at Globe Life Field, beginning with a matchup with the St. Louis Cardinals on Monday, March 23. The opponent on Tuesday, March 24 has yet to be announced.
