Pet Adoptions and Reclaims

Calls are answered during business hours 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.

  • Pet adoptions can be made by appointment only at 817-575-8128, or 817-575-8129. Click here to see adoptable pets and to obtain the animal ID number of the pet to provide when calling.
  • Requests to reclaim a pet being housed at the shelter can be made by appointment only by calling 817-575-8129. Please search our Stray Pets website to obtain and provide the animal ID number and also check PawBoost to see if your pet has been reported found.
  • Pet adoption fees are temporarily reduced to $50, until further notice. Visity the Animal Services website for adoption fee updates.
  • If you located your pet on the city's stray animal page, please contact us at 817-575-8129 during normal business hours to coordinate the return of your pet.
  • If you are interested in donating pet food to help someone in need, please donate during normal business hours and leave the donation at the door for receiving animals, by the Animal Services Moritz Wellness Clinic. Material donations such as pet toys, blankets, and other miscellaneous items may be left in the donation black box outside of the receiving area. Monetary donations may be made through the Animal Services donation website.

Receiving Animals

  • Effective Monday, July 6, 2020, stray animal drop-off will be accepted by appointment only during regular business hours at Arlington Animal Services. Call 817-459-6156 to schedule an appointment to drop-off a stray animal, until further notice. We are unable to receive any pets without an appointment.
  • Animals transferred to approved Adoptions Placement Partners will be handled outside of the facility in the open air.
  • Owner-surrendered animals will not be accepted at this time.
  • Owners who are requesting euthanasia for their pet will be encouraged to visit a private veterinarian instead.

Field Operations

  • Animal Services staff will respond to emergency calls only until further notice. This includes calls regarding animal bites to humans, aggressive animals and sick or injured animals. For questions or information, please call 817-575-8127.
  • Anyone finding an injured animal in Arlington can reach out for assistance at 817-575-8129, 817-575-8128, or 817-575-8127, and 911 during after-hours.
  • We will continue to pick-up deceased animals as they pose a health and sanitation issue for the public.

Volunteer Program

  • Current and approved volunteers may start volunteering at the shelter in a limited capacity.
  • All volunteers must sign up prior to coming to the shelter.

Free Arlington Cat Spay/Neuter

Canceled until further notice. During the month of July 2020, all spay/neuter events for feral, community, and domestic cats are canceled.
