City of Arlington Launches Online Community Donation Campaign to Support Ukrainian Refugees Temporarily Housed in Sister City, Bad Königshofen, Germany

Bad Königshofen, which is Arlington’s longtime Sister City and home to fewer than 7,000 residents, has opened its doors to hundreds of people who have fled violence in their home country of Ukraine. Arlington Mayor Jim Ross has announced the kickoff of a Sister Cities United community donation campaign to help support Ukrainian refugees during their stay in Bad Königshofen.

From now through April 15, 2022, the public can make an online contribution through the City of Arlington’s website and 100% of the proceeds will go toward our Sister City’s efforts to provide a safe haven for Ukrainian refugees. Celebrate Spring With These Naturally Fun Events From Arlington Parks & Recreation

Spring is in full swing and Arlington Parks & Recreation has a month filled with fun activities for a variety of ages and interests! Mark your calendar for these upcoming April events.

The popular, My Little Gentleman Etiquette Class  is back on Saturday, April 9 at 9 a.m. This class is located at Cliff Nelson Recreation Center. Dress in your Sunday's Best and come learn something new at this one-of-a-kind event! Click here to register!

Come join the EGGstravaganza Tot Party at Dottie Lynn Recreation Center for a festive event filled with egg hunts, fun crafts, and other themed activities from 10 AM – 12 PM on Friday, April 15! This come-and-go event is designated for children 5 & under. Click here to register!

Arlington Parks and Recreation will host the 8th Annual Arlington Bass Classic on Saturday, April 16, kicking off the tournament at 7 a.m. Show off your angling skills and compete for cash prizes as we spend the day fishing on beautiful Lake Arlington! All participants must have a current Lake Arlington boating permit and a valid Texas state fishing license. Boats will launch from Richard Simpson Park. Teens can enjoy a day out adventure to a local state park! They will spend the day hiking and exploring nature on Monday, April 18. Pickup is at the East Library and Recreation Center. The fun starts at 9 a.m. and lasts all day! Click here to register!

Seniors, get ready for Senior Prom at East Library and Recreation Center on Friday, April 22 at 4 PM! Join Arlington Parks & Recreation for dancing, refreshments, photo booth fun, and a trip down memory lane. This free event is for ages 50+, and both singles and couples are welcome. Youth Art Month Returns to the Arlington Museum of Art

Each Spring, the Arlington Museum of Art works collaboratively with Arlington ISD to give students the opportunity to display their pieces, done in a wide variety of mediums, to the general public. Six weeks are dedicated to this exhibition. It is held in conjunction with National Youth Art Month and Youth Art Month work on display in Austin, Texas at the State Capitol Building.

Make Proper Disposal of Hazardous Waste Part of Your Spring Cleaning

For a lot of Arlington residents, springtime means taking a deep dive into the garage to dig out the gardening tools or do some tidying up. Unfortunately, these activities can also bring an increase in improper disposal of household hazardous waste into city stormwater and sanitary sewer drains. Remember, household hazardous waste such as paint, motor oil, and pesticides, from individual households may be dropped off free of charge at the Environmental Collection Center, 6400 Bridge Street, Fort Worth (near I-30 and Loop 820).
