Graffiti Suspect Involved in Hate Crime Arrested

The Arlington Police Department responded to multiple incidents of graffiti on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 which initiated a hate crimes investigation in East Arlington. Investigators quickly narrowed the investigation down to one suspect through the investigation.

On Thursday, August 29, 2019 around 6:30 p.m., investigators arrested Edward Daniel Gutierrez and charged him with one count of Graffiti - $750 - $2,500, a Class A Misdemeanor. Detectives are still working these cases in an attempt to determine motivation. Based upon the racial slurs that were used, these offenses were aggregated into one charge and will be presented to the Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney’s Office as a hate crime.

“We will not tolerate hate crimes targeting our citizens,” said Police Chief Will Johnson. “We will vigorously pursue anyone who commits these types of offenses in an effort to bring justice to our community.”
