ArlingCon is returning on June 15, 2019.ArlingCon is returning on June 15 and the Arlington Public Library is excited to announce the convention’s schedule, vendors, featured guests and other details. This free pop culture convention will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the University of Texas at Arlington’s E.H. Hereford University Center at 300 W. 1st St., Arlington, TX 76010. The fifth annual ArlingCon is presented in conjunction with UTA Libraries and other community partners.

ArlingCon is a family-friendly event with workshops, discussion panels, children’s activities, vendors, exhibits, cosplay opportunities, and lots more. Thanks to a grant from the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services through a grant to the Texas State Library and Archives Commission (2018), ArlingCon is featuring live local authors and artists for discussions and book signings. Rachel Caine, R. Cat Conrad, Jason Henderson, James Jakins and Bob Wayne will offer panel discussions throughout the day.

Since its beginning in 2015, ArlingCon has attracted passionate fans who cosplay, or dress in costume as favorite characters. Cosplay is welcomed and encouraged at ArlingCon! This year’s cosplay contest will be judged by Bulldog Props, Kevin Gossett from R/G Studios, and Strangelittlecat. Featured cosplay guests Chaks Productions, Dr. Wildlife and MikoMiko Cosplay will attend in expert costumes and add to the convention experience.

This year, ArlingCon is offering an even wider range of artists and vendors in different halls. After selling out the vendor hall at previous events, this year’s convention features 70 vendors, 43 artists and 15 exhibitors. From geeky clothing to costume supplies to custom art and more, there is something for everyone! Don’t miss these three halls full of creativity.

Learning and discovery are at the heart of Library events and ArlingCon is no different. Click here to see the schedule and explore 36 workshops, panel discussions, live performances and other sessions throughout the day. A gaming room and children’s activities will also be available.

ArlingCon is free to attend and there is no registration required for attendees. Mingle with local cosplay talent, special guests, and maybe make some new friends in the process.
