City Construction

Whether you're into fitness and recreation or curling up with a good book, the City of Arlington is working on several significant Parks and Recreation and Library projects that aim to better serve our growing community's needs.

In this Neighborhood Network News edition, you can get a first look at the newly approved design for the future combined recreation center and branch library in east Arlington and learn more about a hike and bike trail extension under way in River Legacy Parks. We'll also update you on other city construction projects, including the Downtown Library, as well as some of our monthly videos that shine a spotlight on life in The American Dream City.

  • Our newest Bond Tracker catches residents up on the progress of the 2016 Residential Rebuild project, which is bringing much needed roadway, sidewalk, sanitary sewer and water line improvements to seven streets in north and east Arlington.
  • This month's Meet the Neighbors neighborhood profile focuses on Park Place, better known as the "Monopoly Streets," in north Arlington. This neighborhood's got game!
  • Hikers and bikers will soon have an even longer path to enjoy through River Legacy Parks, the crown jewel of Arlington's park system. The project to extend the existing 7-mile trail is expected to wrap up in September.
  • Curious about the status of the planned East Arlington recreation center and library that voters approved in the 2014 bond election? The design for the future combined facility was recently approved. The $26 million project is set to open in Bob Cooke Park in spring 2020.
  • Visited City Hall lately? You may have noticed that construction on the new Downtown Library and City Council Chambers is nearly complete. Stay tuned for details about the library's grand opening in June!
