Have you ever wondered what Arlington was like when it was a small town with a water well in the city center?

Join the Landmark Preservation Commission and city leaders during a dedication ceremony 2:00 p.m., Sunday, May 24, 2015, as they unveil the two newest local land markers in the city: the Old Town Historic District and the South Center Street Historic District.

The Old Town Historic District encompasses approximately seven blocks of late 19th and early 20th century residential properties, bounded generally by Sanford, North, Elm and Oak streets.

The South Center Street Historic District features a row of Craftsman inspired bungalows and ancillary structures along the east side of the 500 and 600 blocks of South Center Street.

Through the City of Arlington's Local Marker Program, the Landmark Preservation Commission seeks to preserve, acknowledge and highlight places that are significant to Arlington's History.

The program is open to any historically significant site, building or area in the city. To get more information, or apply for a local land mark please visit www.arlington-tx.gov/pds/lpc/local-marker-program
