Hundreds of preschoolers and their families came to play, discover, and romp in the spring sunshine during the Teddy Bear Carnival held Saturday, April 25 at the Arlington Public Library's Southwest Branch.

It was a great sight to see so many little ones cradling their favorite stuffed animal as they scampered to various carnival-style games like bear ring toss and colored bean bag toss.

The lawn at the Southwest Branch was a festive array of storytimes and other fun things to do and see. One of the most popular activities was an interactive art scene. Children were invited to select stamp shapes to make their own mark on a giant hand-drawn meadow scene.

Families attending the carnival also had a chance to take home memories by taking pictures at a photo op with multiple famous book bear characters. Everyone enjoyed this come-and-go teddy bear-themed outdoor program. Several parents expressed that Teddy Bear Carnival was not only a fun event, it also gave their child a chance to explore "colors, writing and social skills."
