Need a booster seat for your child? The Arlington Municipal Court is holding a child safety seat check and free booster seat distribution event Sunday, Sept. 29, from 9:00 a.m. to noon, in the Arlington Municipal Court's parking lot located at 101 S. Mesquite Street.

At the event, certified child passenger safety specialists will be available to check car seats and booster seats for proper installation and provide hands-on education to parents and caregivers.

Additionally, they will be distributing free booster seats on a first-come, first-served basis. Only 20 booster seats are available. To receive a booster seat, the child must be present, be ages 3-8, weigh more than 34 pounds, and be taller than 38 inches tall.

"Arlington Municipal Court is committed to preventing serious and fatal injuries by providing education and resources to the community,' said Nancy Aceves Marshall, Deputy Court Clerk. "The response to our free booster seat distribution program has been amazing throughout the year. Our goal is to expand this unique program to impact more people living in our area.'

The next planned event has yet to be scheduled, so Marshall said don't delay having your seat checked or getting a booster for your child because a crash can occur at any time.

The event also serves as a reminder of the Texas child restraint law.
