The George W. Hawkes Central Library, 101 E. Abram Street, reopened Thursday at 9:00 a.m. after a plumbing problem kept it closed for two days. Contractors were able to contain and fix a leak before any major damage occurred.

"Everything is back to normal," Library Director Cary Siegfried said. "The library is fully operational and will resume regular hours."

All future programs scheduled at the Central Library will take place as planned, with the exception of the Texas in the Civil War program scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 19 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. This event is being held at City Council Chambers at 101 W. Abram Street.
