The George W. Hawkes Central Library will close temporarily for emergency plumbing repairs beginning on Tuesday, Sept. 17 and is expected to remain closed through Friday, Sept. 20.

During this time, book drops will be open for library patrons to return material. Items held for patron reserves will be moved to the Woodland West Branch Library at 2837 W. Park Row on Monday evening and will return to the Central Library on Saturday, Sept. 21. For patron convenience, the Northeast, East Arlington and Woodland West Branch libraries will remain open until 9 p.m. Sept. 17 through Sept. 19 and until 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 20.

Programs scheduled at the Central Library during this period will be canceled, with the exception of the Texas in the Civil War program planned for Sept. 19 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. This event will now be moved to City Council Chambers at 101 W. Abram Street.
