Grants Management | Arlington’s Homebuyers Assistance Program

The City of Arlington’s Homebuyers Assistance Program (AHAP), administered through the Grants Management division, is designed to support first-time homebuyers in achieving homeownership by providing financial assistance toward down payment and closing costs. Funded by a combination of federal and local sources, AHAP promotes long-term housing stability and neighborhood revitalization by increasing access to affordable homeownership for low- to moderate-income individuals and families.

Eligible homebuyers may receive assistance in the form of a forgivable loan of up to $20,000, based on underwriting and subsidy layering assessments. The loan carries 0% interest and is forgiven after a five-year affordability period, provided the home is not sold, refinanced with cash out, or leased during that time.

The program is administered in partnership with Housing Channel, a nonprofit organization contracted by the City to support program delivery and applicant guidance. For full program details, eligibility requirements, and application instructions, please visit www.housingchannel.org.
