Mavericks will once again celebrate Doggy Days on Oct. 6 at The University of Texas at Arlington’s Central Library, located at 702 Planetarium Pl, Arlington, TX 76019.

Students can sign up for 15-minute time slots with the therapy dog of their choice. Each monthly meeting offers sessions with three to five different dogs. Students can pet or snuggle the dogs while learning more about them from their handlers.

“We know how important the Doggy Days events are to the well-being and general happiness of UTA students,” said Milaun Murry, experiential learning librarian. “It’s exciting to be able to have them back during the fall 2021 semester. We hope that students will embrace the opportunity to take a break from their busy schedules to pause with some paws and de-stress in the Libraries.”

At last month’s Doggy Day, students congregated on the 6th floor of the Central Library while awaiting their turn with one of three dogs: Sassy, a mini Dachshund; Lucy, a West Highland Terrier; and Henley, an Australian Shepherd.

“I told my friends about it too, and we all signed up for a spot,” said Jenna Leatherman, a junior studying early childhood education.

The next Doggy Day is scheduled for Nov. 8. Sign-ups will become available two weeks ahead of the event.
