Arlington residents who may be experiencing unexpected financial hardships, such as a medical emergency or other crisis, have options to help them pay their water and sewer bills.

Some of those include:

• Arlington Water Utilities offers payment arrangements for customers who qualify. To seek assistance setting up a payment plan, residents should call the water department from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday at 817-275-5931 or visit one of the department's customer service locations at Arlington City Hall, 101 W. Abram St., or the Arlington Water Utilities South Service Center, 1100 SW Green Oaks Blvd.
• Arlington Water Utilities' Care & Share financial assistance program is available to help residents with temporary emergencies that make it difficult to pay their water utilities bills. Catholic Charities of Fort Worth administers the program for Arlington and is responsible for distributing about $50,000 each year in aid. Care & Share is funded wholly through donations. For information regarding assistance with your water utilities bill, please contact Catholic Charities of Fort Worth at 817-534-0814 or visit their website at www.catholiccharitiesfortworth.org.
• Community resources to help residents in need can be accessed by calling 2-1-1, a project of United Way of Tarrant County. The help line is staffed by operators who are trained to help locate assistance with housing, health, transportation and many other expenses.

Residents who would like to help ensure that assistance is available to those who need it can make donations to the Care and Share utilities assistance fund on a continuing basis through the water department's online billing system at https://waterbilling.arlingtontx.gov.

A one-time donation also can be included on bill payments mailed to Arlington Water Utilities or by bringing in a Charitable Contribution Form to an Arlington Water Utilities location.
