Arlington Reads has opened registration for summer adult education classes. Work towards earning a GED or other high school equivalency diploma with classes starting on June 18. English learners can improve their English skills at ESL classes, beginning May 21. These classes are free but spaces are limited. Read more about each class below, then register to save a spot.

High School Equivalency test prep classes are a great step for adults who are ready to get a better job or start college, but who don't have a high school diploma. These free classes are taught in small groups and cover five subjects that appear on tests like the GED or the HiSET: math, social studies, science, writing and reading. Students will take a test to figure out which subjects they need to focus on.

These classes will take place at the new Downtown Library. Chose from four different class times, with both morning and evening options: Mondays and Wednesdays, 9 a.m. to noon or 6 to 9 p.m.; or Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9 a.m. to noon or 6 to 9 p.m. Each class has 20 seats available, so click here to register for the best time for you. These classes start June 18.

Some spots are also available in a spring test prep class, which begins on April 6. These classes meet Wednesday and Friday evenings, from 6 to 9 p.m., at the South Arlington Police Service Center. Click here to join this class.

English as a Second Language classes are available for anyone who wants to learn or improve their English. These small group classes are offered at all levels. Students take a test to determine their language needs.

ESL classes are offered at the East Arlington Branch beginning May 21. Classes meet on Monday and Wednesdays, or Tuesdays and Thursdays, in the morning or the evening. The exact time of classes will be determined based on student needs and availability. There are 40 seats available for each class. Click here to sign up for the time you prefer.
