The City of Arlington's Office of Communication recently talked to senior vice president of project development Jack Hill about the progress being made at the future Globe Life Field and how his team hopes to create a premiere baseball experience that sets it apart from ballparks across Major League Baseball.

Hill, who was instrumental in the construction of Globe Life Park in Arlington in the early 1990s, is overseeing the construction management and development of Globe Life Field, scheduled to open for the 2020 season.

"You'll find roomier seats, more comfortable seats, and obviously the environment will be controlled so you won't have to worry about the sun," Hill said. "I'm confident the fans are going to love it."

Earlier this week, MyArlingtonTV was able to talk with Rangers and Manhattan Construction Company representatives and get a first-hand look at the work accomplished so far, which includes a five-month excavation project to create the ballpark's footprint and the start of concrete work.

Crews have completed the installation of approximately 10,000 steel soil nails - each 60 feet long - that are used to anchor the concrete retaining walls that make up the ballpark's below-ground levels.
