Public Works After-Hours Inspection

Effective October 1, 2025, any Contractor requiring the services of a Public Works Inspector outside of the City’s normal business hours will be charged a flat rate of $90 per hour for inspection services. The minimum time for After-Hours inspection services is set at two hours. A non-refundable payment of $180 for each request is due at the time inspection services are requested.

Contractors requesting inspection services outside of the City’s normal business hours during the work week will be required to submit a non-refundable fee of $180 no later than two business days prior to the date the work will be performed.

Contractors requesting inspection services for work performed on Saturdays will be required to submit a non-refundable fee of $180 no later than 4:30 p.m. on the Thursday prior to the Saturday the work will be performed.

Requests for inspection services not received prior to the applicable deadline will be denied, and the Contractor will not be permitted to work at the requested time. If the Contractor is unable to work for any reason, including inclement weather, the $180 fee will not be refunded.

Contractors requesting after-hours inspection services must submit the non-refundable deposit via the Arlington Online Store, via the following link:

Following the performance of inspection services, the Contractor will be invoiced for the actual number of inspection hours provided, in 15-minute increments, at $90 per hour, minus the $180 fee previously paid. Contractors working two hours or less will not receive an invoice. Contractors working more than two hours will receive an invoice for the time worked exceeding the two-hour minimum. Invoices shall be emailed to the Contact Email Address provided at the time the non-refundable payment is made. Contractors invoiced for more than six additional hours of inspection services will be provided payment submittal information with the invoice.

Contractors will be required to pay any outstanding invoices, and all other financial obligations associated with the project prior to the City accepting the project. The After-Hours Inspection Fee shall not apply to City directed after-hours work or emergencies. Construction Services management will determine the appropriate number of Inspectors necessary and which Inspectors will work on each Saturday.

No work will be permitted on Sundays without prior approval from the Construction Services Manager. If approved to work on Sunday, the After-Hours inspection rates will apply.

The After-Hours Inspection Fee is subject to annual review and may be updated based upon the results of the review. Contractors will be notified in writing of any updates and agree to pay the fee amount in place at the time of the inspection services are requested.
