The City of Arlington has launched a new regular Bond Tracker segment for MyArlingtonTV to keep residents informed about the progress of construction on dozens of projects that were included in the City's bond elections.

The first episode features the new Julia Burgen Park in central Arlington. The 66-acre linear park, located at 1008 Ruby Street, is a dream that has been years in the making. Arlington voters approved funding for the $1.7 million project during the 2008 bond election.

The park features a mile-long hike and bike trail, about two dozen parking spaces, benches, a covered playground for ages 2-5 and 5-12, swings, a bike rack and a pavilion available for rent.

In addition to completed projects, future episodes will also focus on current construction, design elements and bond election projects that are just getting underway in The American Dream City. It's part of the City's ongoing communication efforts to provide transparency and to update the community on commitments made through voter-approved bond packages.

“The Bond Tracker segment will continue to offer Arlington residents both transparency and accountability from the City,' said Jay Warren, Marketing Communications Manager for the City of Arlington. “People will be able to see the designs for projects, how much each project costs and the progress on construction.'

In November 2014, Arlington voters approved a five-year, $236 million dollar bond package. Projects included in the package focus on street improvements, Parks & Recreation, Fire Department facilities and City Libraries.

The City offers residents an interactive Bond Tracker website, filtered map, updated stories and videos on construction projects, and complete list of the Capital Budget Planning and Project Sequencing for the 2014 Bond Program here.

Each project will be updated on the website and the City will post stories, videos and pictures of the progress of those projects.
