Raiders vs. Cowboys at AT&T Stadium

The Cowboys host the Oakland Raiders for the team's fourth pre-season game this Saturday, August 26. This will be the final pre-season home game before the regular season opener against the New York Giants at AT&T Stadium in Arlington on Sunday, September 10. Kickoff begins around 7 p.m. The Cowboys are currently 2-1 this pre-season and are coming off a 24-19 victory against the Indianapolis Colts. Sizzling Summer Music Series at Viridian

Master-planned Viridian will be sizzling this Friday, August 25 on its final night of the Sizzling Summer Music Series, happening 6-9 p.m. at 1210 Viridian Park Lane. Live music will be provided by The Justin Cash Band, a noted guitarist and songwriter whose music style is self-described as "feel-good blues/rock." The event is free and open to the public. Friday Night Skate at Elzie Odom Athletic Center

It's back! Join Arlington Parks and Recreation at Elzie Odom Athletic Center every Friday night from 7 to 10 PM for Friday Night Skate, ages 13 and under. This event offers exciting skating games and prizes. There will also be fun music playing as kids skate and boogie along the rink. Parents can sign their child in and drop them off or stay and skate with them for free! The cost is $10 per child ages 5-13. Elzie Odom Athletic Center is located at 1601 NE Green Oaks Blvd, Arlington, TX 76006.

Attention City of Arlington Volunteers: A Free Photo Op for Your Pet!

City of Arlington Volunteers – bring your dog to the dog park star for a free photograph. Bring cats (must be brought in a carrier)inside to the Arlington Animal Services Center Community Room for their free photo to enter in the 2018 Pet Calendar Star Volunteers Photo Contest! When? This Sunday, August 27, from 2 – 4 p.m. at 1000 S.E. Green Oaks Blvd., Arlington, TX 76018. This is an outdoor event for the dog photos, and in case of rain, an alternate date for dog photos is Thursday, September 7 from 5 – 7 p.m.

Six Flags Hurricane Harbor

From thrilling slides to relaxing pools, Arlington residents and visitors will be happy to hear that Hurricane Harbor is now open all week. The water park in Arlington's Entertainment District will be open Thursday through Sunday, August 24-27, 2017. Hurricane Harbor will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, and 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Six Flags Hurricane Harbor features 47 acres of water wonderland to enjoy. Spend the day zooming down the adventure slides, or just kick back in the sun and relax with your friends. Six Flags Over Texas

Spend the weekend at Six Flags Over Texas with all your friends and family celebrating all things summer. Enjoy some delicious summer-time favorites hot off the grill along with American-sized thrills on our roller coasters such as BATMAN The Ride, SUPERMAN: Tower of Power and MR. FREEZE: Reverse Blast. The Joker free-fly coaster is also open at Six Flags. After being lifted straight up a 12-story, 90-degree hill, riders flip head-over-heels up to six times along the weightless journey. Shows at UTA Planetarium

UTA Planetarium continues to offer shows to residents and visitors this summer. The Planetarium's lineup of shows is featured in an episode of "Culture Buzz" on MyArlingtonTV. This includes Phantom of the Universe, a planetarium show that unveils scientists' efforts to explore Dark Matter. The show focuses on the Large Hadron Collider, the gigantic underground particle detector being used to explore the inner workings of the matter. Dark Matter is invisible and we only know of its existence due to its gravitational effect. It is believed that 85 percent of the matter in the universe is Dark Matter.
