New playground equipment is available at Carl Knox, Jr. Park.

Carl Knox, Jr. Park in central Arlington now features a new, upgraded playground area for small children.

The equipment replaces a section of the playground at 1200 Susan Drive that was destroyed last December after being set on fire by vandals. The playground area designed for children ages 5 to 12 years was not damaged.

The new features encourage interactive, sensory and imaginative play for children ages 2 to 5. Those include an additional slide as well as climbing features designed to help with strength building, hand-eye coordination, balance, and problem solving.

As part of the playground project, the Parks and Recreation Department installed new safety surfacing, improved drainage, repainted the shade structure posts and replaced the damaged shade structure fabric.
