FAQs

Will I get arrested if I try to come in to take care of my tickets?

Arlington is a Safe Harbor Court which means that persons may appear in the court at any time to resolve their outstanding cases without the fear of being arrested for warrants issued by the Arlington Municipal Court.

Why does my citation not appear in the system?

It could take a few business days before the citation is submitted by the officer to the office of the court clerk and for it to be entered in to the system.

What are my options?

Pay your citation online. Online and telephone payments constitute a plea of no contest and are entered as a guilty judgment. The judgment is reported to DPS as a conviction on your driving record.

If eligible, there are two options available if you are wanting to keep the offense off of your driving record. We offer the options of deferred disposition or taking a driving safety class.

If you are unable to pay the fine and costs of a conviction and your household income fall under 125 percent of the federal poverty guidelines; you may apply to work community service hours to pay the fine owed.

How can I check to see if my ticket is in warrant status?

Warrant listings are updated weekly.

When is my court date?

You are not automatically given a court date when you receive a citation. You are given an appearance date meaning that you must appear either in person or by mail within 30 days of receiving your citation. The state of Texas has special requirements for juvenile defendants. Faxing or calling the court do not constitute an appearance.

If you have already made an initial appearance and was set for court at a later date, see your court date.

How can I request an extension for my ticket?

A request for an extension may be made in person, by mail, or online.

I'd like to talk to the judge. How can I do that?

Judges are available at the following Walk-In Hours by Appointment:

A.M. Session
Monday - Friday: 9:30 AM

P.M. Session
Monday - Friday: 1:30 PM

What is the Court Attire?

Court Attire is Strictly Enforced:

  • No tank/halter/strapless tops
  • No short shorts/skirts
  • No baggy pants
  • No hats
  • Shoes are required

How do I request for Time Served?

Defendant must provide documentation from the jail showing the book-in date and the release date or jail paperwork with a court order showing their incarceration period in TDC or a federal prison. A criminal docket sheet from another court is not sufficient. The court will not call jails to obtain proof of incarceration period. Defendant is required to provide written proof that they were incarcerated for more than 72 hours or 3 days.

How do I request Community Service?

Defendant must appear in person or by mail to request a Community Service Application. The application will not be considered if proper proof is not supplied nor will you be contacted for further information. Therefore, whatever is put on the application, please provide documentation.

The following documents, if they apply, must be attached to support the application:

  • Current pay stubs or W2 or Income Tax Filing for all persons working in the household
  • Proof of public assistance received by anyone in the household
    • Housing; Food Stamps
    • TANF; and
    • MEDICAID
  • Unemployment payments received by anyone in the household
  • Workers' compensation payments received by anyone in the household
  • SSI or SSD award letter received by anyone in the household
  • Letter from employer indicating layoff or reduction of hours received by anyone in the household; and
  • Medical Records of anyone in the household indicating inability to work
    • You will only be allowed to work community service hours if you are found indigent: "A level of poverty in which real hardship and deprivation are suffered and comforts of life are wholly lacking"…Webster's Dictionary.

Note: Under State law, a judge also has the authority to waive payment and community service hours if the defendant presents proof that all alternative methods of discharging the fine or costs would impose an undue hardship upon the defendant.

How do I request a Payment Plan?

Payment Plans must be requested in person or in writing:
