2020 Safe Routes to School

Project Updates:

Work is progressing on pedestrian improvements serving the Thornton, Webb, and Crow Elementary School areas. Below is an update on the work completed and currently underway in each area.

Thornton Elementary School

 The sidewalk work in the Thornton Elementary School area, including Carter Drive, Sherry Street, Marilyn Lane, Reever Street, and Park Row Drive, is complete.

Webb Elementary School

The pedestrian signal work at Cooper Street, near Webb Elementary School, is complete. Sidewalk work on Center Street, between Rogers Street and Slaughter Street, is anticipated to be complete by the end of August.

Crow Elementary School

Sidewalk work in the Crow Elementary School area is partially complete, including Cardinal Street and Highland Drive. Crews are currently working on Raines Street.

The contractor is allowed to work from 7 AM to 6 PM (Central Standard Time) and from 7 AM to 8 PM (Central Daylight Time).

Yes, you will continue to have water service throughout construction. If there is a planned water shut-off, you will be notified at least 48 hours in advance. In the case of an emergency shut-off, water service may be temporarily interrupted for a few hours.

While the construction of the sidewalk is not expected to significantly impact traffic, there may be slight delays during specific phases of the project. We recommend staying alert for any signage and planning your route accordingly to ensure a smooth travel experience.

Driveway access will be available during most of the project. If the contractor must close or remove your driveway, you will be given 48-72 hour notice.

Yes. Your neighborhood's regularly scheduled trash and recycling pickup days will continue as normal during construction.
