The UT Arlington Maverick Club announced that the newly branded Maverick Open will take place Thursday, Sept. 10 at Texas Star Golf Course.

The Maverick Open, formerly the Chip-N-Classic, is featured as the premier "teeing-off" event for the athletic department as an opportunity to support UTA Athletics and for participants to interact with coaches and student-athletes.

"It is an exciting time with the new golf program, but also for the whole department as an athletic program as a day to showcase all sports and the student-athletes," UT Arlington golf coach Stuart Deane said.

Proceeds raised in the Maverick Open will be used to support the UTA student-athletes not only from the Mavericks' golf team, but for all current 14 Division I programs, and help launch the addition of women's golf for the 2017-18 season.

"The Maverick Open is a wonderful event to tee off the season, and introduce our UT Arlington family to Stuart Deane and the 2015-16 men's golf team," Athletic Director Jim Baker said. "Join us as we celebrate to start of a new year. We look forward to your support and being a part of this special day for UTA golf."

Texas Star Golf Course and Conference Center is located in Euless and is set on 275 acres designed around Hurricane Creek. The 18-hole course features rolling hills, rock ponds, waterfalls and natural woodlands. The 7,000 square foot conference center welcomes up to 325 guests with a patio overlooking the 18th hole.
