This September, Arlington’s Veterans Park will transform into a breathtaking, living memorial. As part of the annual Patriot Week observance, a stunning display of 911 full-size American flags will be erected at 3600 W. Arkansas Lane, 76016, honoring the lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001, and celebrating the everyday heroes in our community.

The massive flag display will fly from Sept. 5-12, 2026.

In 2009, Congress passed a Joint Resolution establishing September 11 as Patriot Day, a National Day of Service and Remembrance. Patriot Week is Arlington's local observance of this solemn time, bringing the community together to reflect, serve and remember.

Honor Your Personal Hero

Members of the community are invited to participate in this powerful tribute by sponsoring a flag:

  • Dedicate a Flag: Each of the 911 flags can be dedicated to anyone the sponsor considers a hero—whether a military veteran, first responder, frontline worker, teacher, or beloved family member.
  • Personalized Message: Sponsors can include a special message of gratitude or remembrance, which will be printed on a dedicated tag and securely attached to the flagpole.
  • Keep Your Flag: At the conclusion of Patriot Week, the sponsored flag will be returned to the purchaser as a lasting keepsake of honor.

Special Event: "Stars, Stripes, and Remembrance" (Friday, Sept. 11)

On the evening of Friday, Sept. 11, the community is invited to gather at the Levitt Pavilion for "Stars, Stripes, and Remembrance," a landmark anniversary event honoring our national resilience and community spirit.

  • Live Music: Country music star Coffey Anderson will perform, featuring his chart-topping, #1 patriotic hit "Mr. Red, White, and Blue."
  • National Anthem: The acclaimed a cappella group The Good Times Chorus will open the event with a special performance of the National Anthem.
  • Keynote Speaker: The ceremony will feature an extraordinary address from a senior National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) official who was on duty during the events of Sept. 11, 2001, offering a unique first-hand perspective on that tragic day 25 years ago.

"This entire week is a physical representation of our community’s gratitude, resilience, and unity," said Clete McAlister, President, Veterans Park Foundation. "From the quiet reflection among the 911 flags in Veterans Park to our gathering at the Levitt Pavilion, we ensure that the legacy of our heroes—both national and local—is never forgotten."
