The City of Arlington is participating in United Against Hate Week, Oct. 18-24, 2026. This campaign is a call for local civic action to stop bias and bullying that can pose a dangerous threat to the safety and civility of neighborhoods, towns and cities.

The movement was created by civic leaders in direct response to a rise in expressions of hate. It seeks to empower local residents to take action in their local communities to work together against hate.

Originating in the Bay Area in 2017, the initial 13 participating communities were convened in 2018 by Not in Our Town, a national anti-hate organization and partner with the LA vs Hate campaign, committing to an annual week of action and awareness.

Mayor Jim Ross issued a proclamation on Oct. 19, 2026 reaffirming Arlington’s commitment to building a community where everyone is treated with dignity, respect and compassion.

“Hate has no place in our city. Arlington’s strength comes from our diversity, our shared values and our willingness to stand together—even when we come from different backgrounds or see the world differently,” said Ross.

United Against Hate Week serves as a reminder that the City’s legacy is built on the shared commitment of its residents to fostering a welcoming community for generations to come.
