Texas Authors Book Club – Attica Locke, Black Water Rising

Readers and mystery lovers can dive into Texas crime fiction on Thursday, May 21 at 6:30 p.m. at the Fielder House Museum during the Texas Authors Book Club discussion of Black Water Rising by Attica Locke. Known for her gripping storytelling and sharp social commentary, Locke’s award-nominated novel blends suspense, history, and politics into a compelling Texas-set mystery. The monthly gathering offers a welcoming space for readers to explore influential Texas authors and engage in thoughtful discussion.

DreamFest

DreamFest returns on May 22–24 at Levitt Pavilion, bringing three nights of free live music, food, vendors, and family fun to downtown Arlington during Memorial Day weekend. As part of Arlington’s 150th anniversary celebration, the festival transforms the Levitt lawn into a high-energy community gathering filled with live entertainment and activities for all ages.

The weekend kicks off on Friday, May 22 from 7–10 p.m. with Motown favorites Martha and the Vandellas, along with performances by the Parker & Pat Duo and the Levitt Youth Spotlight artists. On Saturday, May 23, festivities begin at 5 p.m. with Texas country artists Adysen Malek, Mike Ryan, and headliner Wade Bowen taking the stage. DreamFest wraps up on Sunday, May 24 from 7–10 p.m. with a Tejano celebration featuring Grupo Pression and acclaimed artist Marcos Orozco. Guests can also enjoy food trucks, artisan vendors, lawn games, and a festive atmosphere all weekend long.

Memorial Day Service

The community is invited to honor the nation’s fallen heroes during the Memorial Day Service on Monday, May 25 at 6:30 p.m. at Veterans Park, 3600 W. Arkansas Ln. Hosted by the Arlington Veterans Park Foundation, the ceremony will include a wreath-laying at the Memorial to the Fallen, patriotic music from the Arlington Community Band and Good Times Chorus, and a presentation of the colors by The University of Texas at Arlington Maverick Battalion.

Storytime with Arlington Museum of Art

Families can enjoy a creative morning at Storytime with Arlington Museum of Art on Wednesday, May 27 from 11 a.m.–12 p.m. at the Arlington Museum of Art. This special summer storytime, hosted in the museum’s Children’s Gallery, combines fun stories about sweets and baking with a hands-on “Bake Up Some Pop Art Donuts” craft inspired by bold colors and pop art design. Tea Time! The Boba Revolution

Bubble tea takes center stage at Tea Time! The Boba Revolution on Wednesday, May 27 from 6:30–7:30 p.m. at the East Library & Recreation Center. This flavorful program explores the history and global popularity of boba tea while giving attendees the chance to sip and learn about one of today’s most beloved drinks.
